In short: LyteGIS is free — there is no charge to activate an account or to use it. You may use it through your own account. The LyteGIS software — its code, design and features — belongs to L(y)teGIS and may not be copied, reverse engineered or redistributed. Your maps and data stay yours. Basemaps, imagery and other third-party data are not covered by these terms; they keep their own providers' terms.
1What these terms cover
These terms apply to the LyteGIS software: the web application at lytegis.com and its HTML, CSS, JavaScript, server functions, user interface, icons designed for LyteGIS, documentation and related files (together, "the Software"). By activating an account or using the Software you agree to them.
2Ownership
The Software is proprietary and confidential, and is owned by L(y)teGIS. It is licensed to you, not sold. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved.
3Free to use — your licence
LyteGIS is free software to use: there are no fees, subscriptions or charges for activating an account or for using any of its tools. "Free" means free of charge, not open source — the code itself remains protected as described in 2 and 4.
While your account is active, you may use the Software through your own account, in a web browser, for your own work — including professional and commercial projects. The maps, layers, reports and other results you make with it are yours to use as you wish (subject to the terms of any third-party data in them — see 6).
4What you may not do
- Copy, download, save, modify, translate or create derivative works of the Software's code or design.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, de-obfuscate or otherwise try to extract the Software's source code.
- Redistribute, resell, rent, host, mirror or publish the Software or any part of it.
- Remove or work around its access controls, account checks or domain restrictions.
- Share your account or activation code, or let others use the Software through your account.
- Use the Software to build a competing product, or in a way that disrupts the service for others.
5Your data
You keep all rights to the data you add and the work you create. Projects are saved in your own browser; they are stored on LyteGIS servers only when you choose Save to My Account, Share or Publish, and you can delete them there at any time. You are responsible for having the right to use the data you load.
6Basemaps, imagery and other third-party data — not covered
These terms do not apply to basemaps, map tiles, satellite imagery, elevation data, building footprints, place names or any other data and services from third parties, including Esri, OpenStreetMap contributors, Copernicus Sentinel (ESA), AWS Open Data, Google and Microsoft Open Buildings, ISRIC SoilGrids, NASA POWER, USGS, the World Bank, geoBoundaries and Mapbox Maki icons. Each remains owned by its provider and is used under that provider's own terms and licence — please follow them, including their attribution requirements, when you publish maps. See About LyteGIS for credits.
Open-source libraries used in the Software are likewise used under their own licences.
7Analysis results
Tools such as Flood What-If, Change Over Time, Location Intelligence, hydrology, survey and engineering tools give screening estimates from the data available. They are not a substitute for a professional study, site survey or engineering design; check results before relying on them.
8No warranty, limited liability
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the extent allowed by law, L(y)teGIS is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profits, arising from use of the Software.
9Ending access, and changes
Access may be suspended or ended if these terms are broken. These terms may be updated; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the Software means you accept the update.
